Ferry from Capri to Amalfi

Discounts are available for certain passengers on all ferries from Capri to Amalfi, although they vary depending on the operator. Children up to 1-2 years old usually travel for free, while those up to 11-12 years old are eligible for discounts.

All ferries on the Capri - Amalfi route have air-conditioned interiors, individual seating and most also sell snacks and drinks.

Keep in mind that you won’t be able to travel with your vehicle between Capri and Amalfi as the ferries and hydrofoils operating on this route don’t have car decks.

Cabins and accommodation

Cabins are not available on ferries from Capri to Amalfi due to the short duration of the trip. Your seat is included in the price of your ticket.

Are there business-class seats?

The ferry companies operating the Capri - Amalfi route do not offer business class or premium seating options. Only standard seating is available.

Can I reserve a specific seat?

No. Seating is usually available on a first-come, first-served basis in the passenger lounge, so we recommend arriving at the port early if you have a preferred seat.

How much luggage is allowed on the ferries?

The companies that operate on the Amalfi - Capri ferry route have different baggage allowances:

• On NLG ferries, you can carry 1 piece of luggage with a maximum size of 50x30x15 cm and a maximum weight of 5 kg free of charge.
• Positano Jet charges an additional fee for each bag, regardless of size. There is no restriction on the number of bags you can bring.
• With Alicost and Alilauro Gruson, you can bring 1 piece of luggage up to 9 kg, with maximum dimensions of 50x35x20 cm, free of charge.
• On Grassi Junior vessels, there are no specific limits for luggage.
• With Cooperativa S. Andrea, you can bring 1 piece of luggage free of charge, with maximum dimensions of 45×35×20 cm. For additional or larger luggage, you can purchase an extra baggage allowance when booking your tickets on Ferryhopper.

Extra charges may apply for luggage exceeding the limits mentioned above.

Amenities for people with disabilities

Ferries operating on the Capri - Amalfi route are generally suitable for passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility (PRM).

On board, you will typically find access ramps, reserved seating in common areas, and accessible restrooms.

Note: some high-speed ferries may not be equipped with all onboard accessibility features.

Can I travel with my pet?

Pets are welcome on all ferries from Capri to Amalfi, as long as you include them in your booking online and pay a small fee. 

Smaller animals must be kept in a pet carrier, while larger ones must wear a muzzle and a leash. 

Don’t forget to bring along the necessary health documents, tickets and any pet supplies you may need during the trip.

Where to take the ferry from Capri to Amalfi

Ferries to Amalfi depart from Capri’s port on the north side of the island, in Marina Grande. 

How to get to the port of Capri

The port of Capri is connected to the rest of the island by funicular, bus and taxi (private cars are not allowed on the island for non-residents).

• From Capri town (La Piazzetta): the fastest option is the funicular, which reaches Marina Grande in about 4-5 min., with departures every 10-15 min. from 6:30 to 23:00. Alternatively, you can take the SIPPIC bus.
• From Anacapri: you can take the direct Anacapri - Marina Grande bus, or take the bus to Capri and then continue by funicular. The journey takes about 25 min., with departures every 30 min.
• From Marina Piccola or other areas: you can use the local bus services connecting Capri and Anacapri, with intermediate stops and, if necessary, a transfer in Capri or Anacapri.

The island's iconic open-top taxis serve all areas accessible by road. You can find them at the port, near La Piazzetta, in Anacapri and at Marina Piccola. They are more expensive than public transport, but are a convenient option, especially if you're travelling with lots of luggage.

Where does the ferry arrive in Amalfi?

Ferries and hydrofoils from Capri arrive at Molo Cassone in the small port of Amalfi, which is about a 10-min walk from some of the town's main landmarks.
