Where to take the ferry from Hvar to Dubrovnik

Catamarans to Dubrovnik normally set from the port of Hvar. The port of Hvar is located in the southeastern part of the harbor, in the very center of the town, and is about 500 m from the main bus station.

In the port area, you can find plenty of useful traveler amenities, including bars, restaurants, shops, a post office, and ATMs.

How to get to the port of Hvar

• On foot: if you are staying in Hvar Town, you can easily reach the port on foot in about 2-5 min.
• By bus: local buses connect many major hubs on the island, like Stari Grad and Jelsa with Hvar Town. The main bus station in Hvar Town is a 5-min walk (roughly 300 m) from the port.
• By taxi: taxis can drop you off at the edge of the pedestrianized harbor zone, within walking distance from the port.

Where does the ferry arrive in Dubrovnik?

Ferries from Hvar typically dock at the main port of Dubrovnik in Gruž. This the main ferry port in Dubrovnik and is around 3 km from the city center and around 20-25 km from Dubrovnik Airport..

In the area around the port, you will find cafés, restaurants and shops, as well as a tourist information center and hotels.

Getting from Gruž Port to the Old Town

• By local bus: bus lines 1A, 1B, and 3 run frequently from the port directly to the Pile Gate, the main entrance to the Old Town, with the ride taking about 10-15 min.
• By taxi: there is a taxi rank right outside the ferry terminal, with the drive to the Old Town taking around 10 min.
