Where to take the ferry from Capri to Naples

Ferries to Naples depart from the port of Marina Grande, the main and only ferry port of Capri. The port is on the north coast of the island and handles all ferry and hydrofoil connectionw with Naples, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast.

The main dock area has plenty of traveler amenities, such as ticket offices, cafés, luggage services, taxi stands, bus stops, and the funicular station nearby.

How to get to the port of Capri

• On foot: you can walk down to Marina Grande from Capri town, but the route is steep, so it’s easier with light luggage only.
• From Capri town: the ride on the funicular (cable car) from the Piazzetta area down to Marina Grande last about 4 min.
• From Anacapri: you can take a local bus from Anacapri and reach Marina Grande in around 15-20 min.
• By taxi: open-top taxis are available around Capri and Anacapri and can drop you off close to the port area.

Where does the ferry arrive in Naples?

Ferries from Capri usually arrive at Molo Beverello or Calata Porta di Massa in Naples, depending on the type of vessel. In general, hydrofoils and high-speed vessels travel to Molo Beverello, while conventional ferries dock at Calata Porta di Massa. You can easily travel between the piers with a free shuttle service. 

Molo Beverello is the most central ferry pier in Naples, next to the cruise terminal and close to Piazza Municipio, Castel Nuovo and the historic center. The nearest metro stop is Municipio on Line 1, just a short walk away. Calata Porta di Massa is also within the main port area, around 10-15 min on foot from Molo Beverello, and has ferry ticket offices, waiting areas, cafés and basic traveler services.

When is the best time to book Capri - Naples ferry tickets

The Capri - Naples ferry route is one of the most popular in Italy, especially during the high season and aroung long weekends, so the rule of the thumb is to book round-trip and as soon as possible. If you plan on visiting in the summer (June to September), it is best to book your tickets at least 1 month in advance. Tickets in the late afternoon and on weekends are usually the first to sell out.

For trips during the shoulder season (April-May and late September-October), you can usually afford to book your Capri - Naples tickets 1-2 weeks ahead of your journey. During the low season, you can usually find tickets even closer to your travel dates, but keep in mind that the ferry companies may reduce the frequency.
