Ferry from Positano to Naples

Discounts vary slightly depending on the ferry company you travel with, but usually children up to 1-2 years old travel free on all Positano to Naples ferries, and those up to 11-12 years old can receive up to 50% off.

On board all vessels traveling from Positano to Naples, you will find air-conditioned areas, comfortable seating, and other amenities. Most ferries also sell snacks and drinks.

Keep in mind that you won't be able to take your car with you, as all vessels are hydrofoil or high-speed ferries, which do not have car decks.

Cabins and accommodation

Given the short duration of the crossing, cabins are not available on ferries from Positano to Naples. Nevertheless, seating options are included in the ticket price.

How much luggage can I carry on board?

Baggage allowances on Positano - Naples ferry routes vary according to the operator:

• NLG: passengers can take 1 bag up to 50×30×15 cm and 5 kg free of charge. Additional or larger baggage can be purchased when booking with Ferryhopper.
• Positano Jet: passengers are allowed one free piece of baggage with maximum dimensions of 40x20x25 cm. Extra bags require an additional fee.
• Alicost: every passenger can take with them one baggage and the maximum size of 50x35x20 cm and the maximum weight of 9 kg.

Can I travel with my pet?

Pets are welcome to travel on all ferries from Positano to Naples for an additional fare starting from €5.  Dogs should wear a muzzle and must be kept on a lead. Cats and other pets must be kept in a carrier. Please note that you may be asked to show your pet's health certificate before boarding.

Where to take the ferry from Positano to Naples

Ferries to Naples depart from the only pier in the small port of Positano. The harbour is very close to the town center and the Marina Grande beach.

There are bars, restaurants and boat rentals in the area of the port. You'll also find many shops and hotels along the streets that run through the center and towards the upper part of the town.

How to get to the port of Positano

• By car: you can reach Positano by taking the A3 motorway to the Castellammare di Stabia exit and then following the scenic SS145 and SS163 Amalfi Coast roads. Paid parking is available in the town center, but spaces are limited, especially during the summer. From the parking areas, you can walk to the port.
• By bus: SITA Sud buses connect Positano with Sorrento, Amalfi, Salerno and other towns along the Amalfi Coast. The main bus stop is on the SS163 road, just a few minutes' walk from Spiaggia Grande and the ferry departure point.
• By train: Positano does not have a railway station. The nearest stations are Sorrento (connected to Naples by the Circumvesuviana railway) and Salerno, from where you can continue to Positano by SITA Sud bus or seasonal ferry.
• By plane: the nearest airport is Naples Capodichino Airport, about 60 km away. From the airport, you can reach Positano by bus, private transfer or taxi.

Where does the ferry arrive in Naples?

The port of Naples is one of the largest in Europe and a popular stopover for visitors from all over the world.

Ferries from Positano arrive at Molo Beverello, the city's main terminal for high-speed ferry services, conveniently located in the heart of Naples. Molo Beverello is within walking distance of Piazza Municipio, Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino) and Via Toledo.

The port is well connected by public transport, including Metro Line 1, taxis and the Alibus shuttle service to Naples International Airport. You'll also find ticket offices, cafés, restaurants, ATMs and other useful amenities in the surrounding area. 

Useful info: if you're travelling to Naples International Airport (NAP), you can reach the airport from Molo Beverello in around 25-35 min by taxi or shuttle bus.
